PUGliful Puppies

I've been dying to test out this one puppy pattern and OMG I love it!! It has to be the cutest doll I've made so far. I'm so happy with it!

I loved it so much I decided to take lots of pics haha. Isn't she adorable?

So since I was so pleased with my first one.. I HAD to make her a buddy. Meet her lil BF pug...

I'm thinking of trying out an even darker pug in brown and black. I'll post it up if it turns out okay.

I had a problem figuring out which pug would be a girl and which one would be a boy. For a long time my puppies were sexually ambiguous. After asking a few people, I finally decided:

I made them little collars with a bell on the end :) Now I can tell which one's which!

Making these lil pups made me long to own one of my own. A REAL one... not a yarn one. I can't wait til I can afford one and take care of it!

Oh well.. in the meantime I can settle for making them and adding to my ami family. I'm very tempted to make a whole litter of pups! Who knows.. maybe I will ;) And you know I'll post them up haha.

It's getting late so I'm gonna put them to bed and get some shut-eye. Let me know what you think of them!

Snowboarding #1

I started snowboarding in 2006 and I loved it. On my very first day, I learned how to go down the hill on my heels. I was excited to go again. We went again that same year, and this time I managed to zigzag down the mountain and even go pretty fast. I liked the speed and I was getting more comfortable with it.

The next year, we went again and it was just like the first 2 times. I loved it. I was a little sore afterwards, but it was totally worth it. I still hadn't learned to get off the lift on my own without falling though.

On Sunday, the BF, his bro, and I went to Cypress. It was the first time the BF & I went in over 2 years, so I was really excited to get back into it.

* All excited after my 1st run. Little did I know what pain was to come...

I had not been exercising, since I usually spend most of my days at my desk studying. I was completely out of shape and it showed. It hurt. A lot.

The 1st time I got off the lift, my knee made a funny popping sound and I had to sit down for a while cuz I was sore. The 2nd time on the lift, I missed the stomp pad area and half did the splits. OUCH. I think I pulled a groin muscle that time. The 3rd time coming off the lift was better. The BF held onto me and I kept my balance, but by that time I was already too tired.

* I was so tired after the first 2 runs, I had to take breaks every few minutes

We're planning to go again next week, so I'm gonna start working out my legs more. Cuz I don't want to feel how I do now again next week. My toes, thighs, back, abs, and arms are sore. I found it very hard to get outta bed this morning.

But it was nice to get back into it. I loved spending the time up on the mountain with the BF. He even started to teach me how to go on my toes. This trip even coincided with a mini anniversary (31 months)!

* The BF & I up on the mountain :)

Oh, and the BF & his bro even ended up on a black diamond run by accident and had a LOT of interesting fun haha. There's even a video!

Next time, my goal is to get off the lift by myself without falling. And to learn how to carve. I think I can do it!! But in the meantime... gotta work out those legs!

Out of love - CS & Bear

Sometime last year, I had my sights set on a cross-stitch project for my mom. It started out as a potential birthday gift (Nov). Then it turned into a Christmas gift. Then I got busy with studying and it finally became a Valentine's gift.

This was my 2nd cross-stitch project and I was very proud. Took me forever cuz there was so much black in the picture. I framed it and got SO excited that I gave it to her early.

But it was definitely worth it. My mom loved it. She hasn't hung it up yet, but I know it's tough for her. What do you think?

This year for V-day, the bf & I decided to order some Thai and eat with my mom again. I guess since this was the 2nd year in a row that we did it, we can call it a tradition? I think it makes her feel special :)

I had a friend fly out from Edmonton this week and I was supposed to meet up with her for dinner. So the night before, I stayed up and crocheted her a lil bear. Her nickname's Princess Squishy Bear (long story), so I figured it was very fitting.

I kinda like the oatmeal colour. It's a nice change from the typical dark brown ones I like to make. I stitched a lil heart and scarf so she could keep warm in Edmonton! My friend said she'd put her right on her desk at work. Yay!

I also just finished up my long-awaited baby hoodie. My first real sale!! I had a few setbacks, but I finally finished it and I'm gonna deliver it tomorrow. I'll post up some pics later. I have a few other projects I wanna post up, but I haven't given those gifts away yet, so I don't wanna spoil the surprise!

Isn't it great to give personalized gifts? ;)

I hope everyone had a love-filled V-day. Spread the love!

Rrrrrrrrribbit

I found this adorable pattern of this red-eyed tree frog and I just HAD to make it. I had just gotten my shipment of eyes from Glasseyesonline.com and I bought a few pairs of each of the coloured eyes. So I figured it was time to use my red ones!

Me with my proud accomplishment!

I realize that his eyes should've been bigger, but for now he can be my special lil guy with smaller eyes.

He was so fun to make cuz I got to use pipe cleaners and bend his legs around in diff positions. I even bought a huge skein of orange yarn JUST for this project. I guess I'll make some carrots or something later on. I'm starting to love crocheting food patterns these days!

He was kinda hard to photograph tho. The BF & I had a fun time cuz his legs kept wobbling to and fro. He's sitting on the BF's table right now. (I think he kinda likes the froggie hehe)

Anyways, I haven't named him yet, but maybe u have a good idea? Freddy? Greeny? Red eye-y? I'm horrible with names, so I'm hoping someone else is better at it.

Msg me if you want the pattern! I lost the link to the site, but I downloaded the PDF pattern. Then you can have your own lil green guy too! :)

Fluffy cakes

 I was never one for cupcakes. I'm more of an ice cream cake fan, but the future sis-in-law loves them so I think they've kinda grown on me haha. She sorta inspired me to make some cupcakes. Found this cute pattern online and decided to make a whole tray of them! I was thinking of adding some beads for sprinkles.

Here's the link for the pattern:

Half chocolate, half vanilla :)

The bf & being our usual silly selves. I actually thinks that he enjoys being a part of my crochet pics :P

Mmm now I'm craving some REAL cake. Something fluffy & chocolate!

An apple a day

 The future sis-in-law was looking for an apple pattern for a bday gift. I searched online and found a few, but then I saw this adorable pic of a crocheted apple with a worm sticking out! I just had to make my own pattern. I ended up making it more tomato shaped and it turned out bigger than I thought, but I still think it's cute. I'm proud of it! Msg me if you want the pattern :)

Oh... and I just got my shipment of safety eyes from Glasseyesonline.com. Very good site. And I got free shipping cuz of this promotion that's going on til Jan 31st. I used my very first pair of safety eyes on the happy worm :)

Hope you like it!

Octopus

 Here's my latest creation! I found this cutie here:

By the way, the pictures I post up are just ideas of things I can make. I sample some patterns, but I like to create my own. I won't sell items that are made from protected patterns :)

Entrepreneur

After making almost everyone's Christmas gifts and having received such positive feedback, I've decided to be brave and start a part-time craft business. I'm 26 and I've been crocheting for over 9 years. I've always wanted to and making crafts is my passion. So why not?

I posted up a bunch of my creations on Facebook, and I even got my very first request for a custom item! But for now, I'm going to keep this within friends and friends of friends.

So, if anyone's interested, I'll be posting up items from time to time. Just message me and I'll see what I can do for you. I'm also up for making custom items, or if you have an idea of something that you'd like, I can definitely work with you and create a pattern that will suit your needs! If you can think it, I can probably make it!

Here's an idea of the things that I'll be selling:
  • Scarves, mittens, hats, beanies
  • Baby clothing (sweaters, beanies, booties, etc.)
  • Amigurumi dolls/animals
Some stuff I've made over the years:  * baby hoodie & booties

 * baby beanie with bear ears

 * brimmed hat

 * bear balloon (with scarf)

 * bunny balloon

 * ninja balloon

 * mouse (with bell at end of tail)

 * bunny

 * koala

 * penguin
 * girl dinosaur
 * totoro!
 * poo

 * toad mushroom from mario (own pattern)

 * pink hippo

 * jon the chemist (own pattern)

 * erlenmeyer flask (own pattern)

I'll be posting up more pics as I finish making items. Feel free to comment or even email me (lkim02@gmail.com) if you're interested!
